Terms of use
These terms govern your use of TrustValet (trustvalet.co.uk) and the services we sell to companies. TrustValet is a trading name of Topfed Inc. Please read them before you use the register, claim a page or buy a verification. Last updated 28 Sep 2026.
1. Who we are and how these terms apply
TrustValet is operated by Topfed Inc ("we", "us"). Our address is 254 Chapman Rd, Ste 208 #10042, Newark, DE 19702, United States, and you can reach us at info@trustvalet.co.uk.
By using the website you accept these terms. If you claim a company page or buy a service, you also accept the parts that apply to accounts, claims and paid services, on behalf of the company you represent.
Our paid services are sold only to businesses. If you buy one, you confirm that you are acting for a company and not as a consumer.
2. Words we use
- Register: the pages on trustvalet.co.uk describing companies, built from public sources.
- Company page: the page about one company.
- Claim: a request by a person acting for a company to manage its company page.
- Verification: our paid check of a company against public registers, decided by a person.
- Certificate and badge: the dated record of a verification that passed, and the image a company may show on its own website.
- Business customer: a company that buys a service from us.
3. What the register is, and what it is not
The register summarises what public sources said about a company on the dates shown on each page. Every finding names its source and the day it was read.
The register is not an endorsement, a recommendation, a rating, a review platform, a credit reference or legal, financial or professional advice. A company being listed does not mean we have checked it. A company page that shows no verification means exactly that: nothing has been verified.
A verification describes what the checks found on the day they ran. It is not a warranty of a company's future conduct, solvency, qualifications, insurance or the quality of its work. Always make your own checks before you hire or pay anyone.
4. Accuracy, corrections and the right of reply
Public sources can be wrong, late or incomplete, and a company's situation can change after we read it. We re-read published companies regularly and correct a page when a source changes.
If you believe a page is inaccurate, tell us through the Report a listing page or at info@trustvalet.co.uk. Say which page, what is wrong and, where you can, which public record shows the correct position. We aim to respond within five working days and to correct a proven error promptly.
A company may add its own account of a finding through the Right of reply page. We publish replies next to the finding they answer, unless they are unlawful or irrelevant.
A company or a person named in the public record may ask us to remove or limit a page through the Removals page. We weigh each request against the public interest in accurate company information and explain our decision.
5. Complaints about content
If you think content on the register is defamatory or otherwise unlawful, write to info@trustvalet.co.uk with the subject "Legal complaint" and include:
- your name and contact details, and the name of the company or person you represent;
- the page address and the exact words you object to;
- why you believe they are untrue or unlawful, and what harm they cause;
- any public record or document that supports your complaint.
We acknowledge legal complaints within two working days, may restrict the content while we look into it, and tell you what we decide and why. Sending a complaint does not mean we accept that the content is unlawful.
6. Using the website
You may read the register, share links to it and quote short passages with a link back to the page. You must not:
- copy, scrape or harvest the register in bulk, or build a database or competing service from it, except through access we have agreed in writing;
- use information from the register to send unsolicited marketing, or in breach of data protection or electronic communications law;
- access parts of the website that are not public, test its security without our written permission, or overload or disrupt it;
- present a company page, finding or certificate in a way that misleads anyone about what it says or about the date it was read.
Automated access must respect our robots.txt file and must not exceed a reasonable rate. We may block access that does not.
7. Intellectual property and data sources
The design, text, software, selection and arrangement of the register belong to Topfed Inc or its licensors and are protected by copyright and database right. Nothing in these terms transfers them to you.
Company information comes from public sources, which remain subject to their own terms:
- Companies House data contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- Postcode locations come from postcodes.io and contain OS data © Crown copyright and database right, Royal Mail data © Royal Mail copyright and database right, and National Statistics data © Crown copyright and database right, licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- VAT, domain and insolvency checks use HMRC, EU VIES, domain registry (RDAP) and The Gazette services, under their published terms.
The TrustValet name, logo, seal and badge are ours. You may not use them except as these terms allow.
8. Accounts
You sign in with a code sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that mailbox secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us at once at info@trustvalet.co.uk if you think someone else has used it.
An account is personal. Do not share it or sign in as someone else. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used to mislead, or that has been compromised.
9. Claiming a company page
You may claim a company page only if you are a director of the company or have its authority to act for it. By sending a claim you confirm that the details you give are true.
We compare the name you give with the officers on the public register. If it matches exactly, the claim is accepted at once, and a person reviews anything you add before it is published. Otherwise a person reviews the claim. We may ask for more evidence, refuse a claim, or withdraw an approved claim if we have reason to doubt it.
Claiming a page in the name of a company you do not represent may be fraud. We keep the details of false claims and may pass them to the company concerned, to Report Fraud (the UK's national fraud reporting service) or to the police.
10. Content you add to a company page
A company that has claimed its page may add a trading name, website, phone number, description, services and areas. You confirm that this content is accurate, that you have the right to publish it, and that it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
You grant Topfed Inc a worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, display, adapt for layout and store that content for as long as the page exists. A website appears on a page only after the company proves it controls the domain.
We may edit or remove content that is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, promotional beyond what the page is for, or that breaks these terms. Content a company adds is always shown as the company's own, never as a finding of ours.
11. The verification service
Verification is available to a company that has claimed its page and proved its domain. When payment is received, our checks run against public registers and a person reviews the result. We aim to decide within two working days, but this is a target and not a guaranteed time.
Payment buys the checks and the review, not a result. We decide whether a verification passes by applying the published criteria on How we verify, and our decision is final, subject to the right to ask us to review it with new evidence.
We may ask the company for information or documents during a verification. If the company does not provide what we reasonably need within 30 days, we may treat the verification as not passed.
12. Prices, payment and renewal
Prices are shown on the Pricing page and at checkout, in pounds sterling. Any VAT due is shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store full card details.
- One year (£19): a subscription that renews automatically every year until the company turns renewal off in its dashboard. Turning it off stops the next charge; the current year runs to its end.
- Five years (£49): a single payment for five years, with no automatic renewal. Before the five years end we email the company and it may buy a new term.
We may change prices for future terms. A change to a renewing subscription applies from the next renewal, and we give at least 30 days' notice by email. If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend the certificate until it is paid.
13. Refunds and cancellation
If a verification does not pass, we refund the payment for that verification in full.
Once a certificate has been issued, the service for that term has been provided and the payment is not refundable, except where these terms say otherwise or the law requires it. The statutory cooling-off period for consumers does not apply, because our services are sold to businesses.
If we end the service without the company having broken these terms, we refund the unused part of the term in proportion to the time left.
14. Certificates and badges
While a certificate is valid, the company may show the badge and link to the certificate, on the domain the certificate covers and in material that refers to that domain. It may not alter the badge, show it on another domain, or suggest that we endorse the company's work.
The badge is served by us and always shows the certificate's current status. When a certificate expires or is withdrawn, the company must remove the badge and every reference to the certificate within 7 days.
We may withdraw a certificate before it expires if the company is dissolved or enters insolvency, if a finding that the certificate relied on stops being true, if the company gave us false information, or if the badge or certificate is misused. We record the date and the reason on the certificate page. There is no refund when a certificate is withdrawn because of the company's own conduct.
15. Featured placement
Featured placement is advertising. It is labelled wherever it appears, it changes only the order of one list, and it has no effect on findings, verification or certificates.
16. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
The register is provided for general information and on an "as is" basis. We take care to record public sources accurately on the dates shown, but we do not promise that the website will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that a public source is correct. We are not responsible for decisions you make, or for dealings you have with any company, on the basis of the register.
For business customers, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability arising from a paid service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the amount the company paid us for that service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
17. Your responsibility to us
A business customer is responsible for loss we suffer, including reasonable legal costs, as a result of a false claim, false information given to us, content it adds to its page, or its misuse of a badge or certificate.
18. Suspension and ending the service
We may suspend or end an account, remove content or withdraw a certificate if these terms are broken, if the law requires it, or to protect the register, its users or the public. Where it is reasonable, we tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.
A company may close its account at any time by writing to info@trustvalet.co.uk. Closing an account does not remove the company page, which is built from public records, but it removes the content the company added.
19. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including the unavailability or errors of public sources, failures of hosting, payment or email providers, and attacks on the website.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects a business customer's paid service, we email the account holder at least 30 days before it takes effect for that service.
21. Law, disputes and general terms
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute, except that a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings there.
Please raise any complaint with us first at info@trustvalet.co.uk. We aim to resolve it within 30 days.
These terms, with the Privacy and Cookies pages, are the whole agreement between you and us about their subject. If a court finds part of them invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right at once, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer our rights and duties to another organisation that takes over the register; you may not transfer yours without our written consent. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.
